Key milestone achieved by GIPI Oman – to operate its new 6” mill

As part of the ongoing In Country Value “ICV” initiatives GIPI’s management are pleased to announce the final stage of completing 8”-24” mill expansion for manufacturing of smaller sizes 6”-7”, which are used for oil and gas well delivery and currently sourced from overseas market.

The mill modernization and expansion shows GIPI’s commitment to the industrial development of the country. It does not only contribute to the manufacturing of new products for the exploration and production of oil and gas, but also strengthens the value chain through the participation of local suppliers and local labor.

Indeed this is a key milestone for GIPI and beyond doubt, the facility is expected to create 15 permanent jobs, develop local talents, give support to SMEs, and stimulate the local economy. GIPI is proud to contribute in the development and progress of Omani economy by minimizing the dependence on imports and by increasing the export of local quality products to the other markets with fair competitive prices.

The mill occupies 240,000sq meters and includes the expansion of new 6” lines, which incorporate state-of-the-art technology to manufacture pipes for the oil and gas industry. This new technology includes a cutting-edge heat treatment line, threading facilities capable of processing OCTG, inspection lines to meet the highest quality standards and adjustment lines. The entire process guarantees the production of high quality finished pipes in line with international standard requirements.

Gulf International Pipe Industry (GIPI) was established as a Limited Liability Company in Sultanate of Oman in January 2007. GIPI is the first manufacturer of High Pressure Steel Line Pipes and Casing Pipes in Oman and the first mill in MENA region and sub-continent of India to manufacture high pressure 6” - 24” Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Steel Pipes.
